Hampton's Neil R. Underwood Memorial Bridge, which is also known as the Route 1A bridge over Hampton River, was on both lists.
A Hampton bridge is among those classified as both "structurally deficient" and "fracture critical," according to federal data obtained by the Associated Press.
The AP report looked at bridges across the country and found that 23 bridges in New Hampshire fall into both of those negative categories. Bridges designated as "fracture critical" could collapse if one component fails, while those deemed "structurally deficient" are in need of repair or replacement.
Included on the list of 23 New Hampshire bridges are the Neil R. Underwood Memorial Bridge in Hampton, which runs over Hampton River and Hampton Harbor over Route 1A.
Other Seacoast bridges included on the list are the Sagamore Creek Bridge and the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge in Portsmouth and the Little Harbor Bridge over Route 1B in New Castle. All of the bridges on the list are either closed, being rebuilt or have a posted weight limit.
