ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Thelma N. Cummings, 98, of St. Petersburg, formerly of North Hampton, N.H., died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at the Grace Healthcare of St. Petersburg.
She was born in North Hampton on June 17, 1906, a daughter of the late Frank C. and Abbie F. (Breed) Norton.
Mrs. Cummings taught elementary education in the Hampton, N.H., school system for 35 years.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church in St. Petersburg and was a former member of the First Congregational Church of North Hampton.
She had resided in St. Petersburg since 1963.
Mrs. Cummings was predeceased by her husbands, Stanley P. Carter and Chester Cummings; three brothers, Clinton B. Norton, Austin G. Norton and Herman L. Norton; and two sisters, Etta May Norton and Doris G. Norton.
Family members include nieces and nephews, including Mable "Betty" Hoyt of Cape Neddick, Maine, and Mary Savage of Raymond, N.H.
CUMMINGS - Thelma N. Cummings, 98, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of North Hampton, died Nov. 9, 2004. A graveside service will be held at noon Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at the Center Cemetery, North Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, 295 Atlantic Ave., North Hampton, NH 03862. Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.
