The area meetings in the Spring and Fall were held at the Extension Office of the State Library in Exeter. Books were distributed to those in attendance. My assistant and I attended both meetings.

During Book Week Mr. Emil Allen, Assistant State Librarian, had charge of an exhibit at the Exeter Office from which I made a list of new books for our children’s section.

National Library Week in April and Children’s Book Week in November were observed with displays of posters and new books. Bookmarks containing Newberry and Caldecott Award titles were distributed to the children.

The two-volume edition of the new Lincoln Library was added to the Reference Department. Collier’s Encyclopedia and latest edition of the Meriam-Webster Dictionary are on order.

During the holiday season, the Christmas tree and candles were arranged by the Library Staff. The Christmas arrangement on one of bookcases was the work of Miss Ruth G. Stimson; the basket and the wreath on the door were presented by the Garden Club and the arrangement on the file-case, the work of Mrs. Morrill Paul, was for the African Violet Association.

The varied exhibits on the display board and in the cases were in charge of Mrs. Richard Simons. Write- ups, accompanied by pictures, have appeared in The Hampton Union.

The bust of [Abraham] Lincoln was presented to the Library by Mrs. James Tucker, Sr., in memory of Mr. James Tucker, Sr.

A gift of Dow’s History of Hampton was made by Mr. Donald Warren in memory of his father, Reverend Edgar Warren.
