Dedication of the emplaced Academy bell, cast in 1852 by Henry N. Hooper & Co., Boston: Left to right: David O’Haire, representing the Hamptons’ Jaycees, which started the project; Rev. Arthur Dewey; Philip M. Toppan ’35, former Hampton School Board member who was representing the Toppan family which had given the land to the Academy Trustees; Samuel A. Towle ’22, President of the Academy Trustees which had financed the project. The work was completed by a number of Alumni in time for this August 6, 1966, dedication.
