HAMPTON — Dorothy "Dottie" Dalrymple, 85, passed peacefully on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at the Oceanside Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hampton after a period of declining health

She was born March 3, 1929, in Sharon, Pa., a daughter of the late Homer and Dorothy (Wiesen) Schell.

Dottie graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1951 and worked in the executive office of U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh after graduating college. In her later years she worked in administrative positions at SAU 21 in Hampton and several other professional offices in New Hampshire and New Jersey.

Dottie was a caring and compassionate woman who was dedicated to raising her family. She was an enthusiastic crafter, quilter and community volunteer, she served many years as a library trustee in both Hampton and North Hampton, and was an active member of the Friends of the North Hampton Library. In her later years, she was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Exeter, serving as a vestry person and volunteer coordinator, as well as in parish outreach and other ministries.

Dottie was predeceased by Elmer, her husband of 34 years, and her sisters, Marilyn Banez and Ruth Kalata.

She is survived by her sons from her first marriage, Richard Ingram and his wife Sue, and Jeffrey Ingram and his wife Jane; Elmer's children, Kathy Lewis and her husband Tom, David Dalrymple and his wife Susan, Judi Bartle and Laurie Melvin and her husband Rod. Together, Dottie and Elmer shared a family that included 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Joan Brennan of Youngstown, Ohio, and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at the Christ Episcopal Church, 43 Pine St., Exeter. A private family burial will follow the service in the Little River Cemetery, North Hampton. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Dottie's memory to the North Hampton Public Library & Cultural Center Foundation, 237A Atlantic Ave., North Hampton, NH 03862. Her family is very grateful for the care she received from the staff at Oceanside in Hampton during the last months of her life.
