Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia A. Lane were held from her late home and were conducted by Rev. Edgar Warren, assisted by Rev. Harley Nelson. It is rare that one lives to such a ripe age as that of 95 years without the infirmities of old age being more visible. Owing to loss of eyesight many years ago, the deceased led a quiet and protected life that gave her a very youthful appearance. Mrs. Lane will be remembered as a woman of wide mental and spiritual horizon and a liberal giver to charitable institutions. Those who knew her best will remember her sympathetic understanding of those in need. In her early life the deceased was a district school teacher in this and surrounding towns, but only two pupils, as far as is known, survive her. For more than 60 years she was a faithful member of the Baptist Church. Three children, Howard G., and the Misses Ida and Sadie B. Lane, also three grandchildren survive. Bearers were Messrs. Fred Perkins, Henry Hobbs, Cyrus Clark, and C. S. Toppan.
