HAMPTON -- On July 27, the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce moved from its office at 1 Park Avenue to its new location at 1 Lafayette Road (Hampton).

"We had to move all the desks and computers, all our stuff." said Ginny McNamara, director of special events at the Chamber.

"It was fun; moving is always fun," she joked.

Though the move was a haul, McNamara said staff members have already settled into their new space.

"We're up and running" she said.

Currently, the chamber is busy preparing for two of the year's most anticipated events — the Children's Festival, which begins Monday, Aug. 14 and the 17th Annual Seafood Festival, which commences on Friday, Sept. 8 and will feature a host of restaurants and vendors.

Though the Chamber has its hands full working to get things up and running for kids and seafood lovers, McNamara said she hopes to celebrate the chamber's move when things calm down.

"Right now, we're right in the middle of Seafood Fest," McNamara said. "But we will have an open house and a ribbon cutting. I'm the special events director so I want to have a bash."

McNamara said she hopes to hold the ribbon cutting late September or early October.
