HAMPTON — The new owner of Guido Murphy's and Dylan's will be able to open the popular nightclubs this summer at Hampton Beach after all.

Selectmen voted 4-1 to reconsider a trench permit request to open K Street in order to install a required sprinkler system in the popular nightclubs.

The board voted 3-2 two weeks ago to deny the request, knowing that without the sprinklers, the club will not receive an occupancy permit from the Hampton Fire Department.

At that meeting, selectmen said they would not approve the trench permit because the street was just redone as part of the $12 million sewer infrastructure project. They also said the previous owner had known since 2005 that he would have to install a sprinkler system in order to remain open and should have done so when work was being done on the road.

On Monday night, Selectmen Bill Lally and Ginny Bridle-Russell said they had a change of heart.

Bridle-Russell voted to change her original vote after the new owner, Terry Daidone, assured her he would install the sprinkler system and also abide by the town's new regulations regarding trenches.

Selectman Jim Workman was the only one against approving the request, citing the town's policy that a new road can not be dug up for at least five years.
