HAMPTON - The town is back in the running as a temporary location to house the Hampton District Court.

Hampton Town Manager James Barrington said the state is considering moving the court staff to the American Legion Hall on High Street.

Officials from the state met with Post Commander Ralph Fatello last week on the possibility of state leasing the hall from them.

Peter Goodwin, who works in the administrative services for court facilities, confirmed the site is a possibility. The other site they are considering is in Seabrook.

"Both sites have good possibilities," said Goodwin. "We are trying to make a decision as soon as possible."

Seabrook Town Manager Fred Welch said last week that the court looked at two sites in Seabrook.

The state has been looking for a temporary location to move the court staff from its current location after the state court accreditation committee voted in November to do just that.

They said the current facility on Winnacunnet Road is unsafe, not handicapped-accessible and causing health problems for employees.

Fatello said there have been discussions but nothing is final.
