Eleven months after N.H. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Broderick stood in Hampton District Court and said the working conditions he found there to be disturbing, the staff is finally preparing to move out to a new, temporary home in Seabrook.

It has been a long time coming. Too long.

But the staff has continued to put up with mold and fumigators in the run-down, century-old building on Winnacunnet Road while the process of locating new space stumbled along.

The plan is to close the old building on Monday, take a week to complete the move to 130 Ledge Road in Seabrook (down the road from Sam's Club), and open Nov. 14.

The staff at the old Exeter District Court, which the state decided to move at the same time as Hampton, has been quartered at the Superior Courthouse in Brentwood for many months.

But there was no such logical spot for Hampton to go, so a search had to made.

Hampton wanted to keep the court, but couldn't come up with a building.

A building was found in Seabrook, but it didn't work out.

Now, though, the Hampton staff and judge can get out, leaving bad memories and some good ones, too.

About time.
