This season marked the first appearances at Hampton for Aida Berlyn and Frank Vohs, both of whom became extremely popular with Hampton audiences in subsequent years. Aida was the wife of Frank Savino. Aida Berlyn can recall many pleasant memories during her years as part of the Hampton Playhouse family. As a young wife and mother she accompanied her actor/husband Frank Savino to Hampton where he was working for the summer. Soon she found herself doing roles in such momentous productions as NATALIE NEEDS A NIGHTIE and LADIES' NIGHT IN A TURKISH BATH. Recognition of her comic talents soon led to stellar performances in the likes of SAME TIME NEXT YEAR and CALIFORNIA SUITE, to name a few. She then moved easily into dramatic roles such as in THE LION IN WINTER, MISS REARDON DRINKS A LITTLE, and her tour-de-force in NUTS. She became one of the most versatile, familiar and favored performers of Hampton audiences. An unfortunate accident has prevented her from being with us the last several years, and she is sorely missed.

THE LION IN WINTER featured marvellous performances by the very talented Richard Kneeland and Katherine Helmond ... one of the more outstanding productions of this season.

FORTUNE AND MEN'S EYES was a very shocking production for its time and a first for Hampton audiences. It gave Frank Vohs his first of many chances to do the drag numbers for which he later became so popular.

Although it wasn't generally known at the time, the last show I LOVE YOU WILLIE-CAT, later known as GOOD TIME DOLLY D, was written by John Vari and tried out first on Hampton audiences. John was featured ... the show starred Katherine Helmond in what I feel was one of her finer Hampton outings ... the play had wonderful possibilities and it is a shame it never went further.

Company members and apprentices for this season included Webster Bull, Nicholas Heller, Stephen Grossman, Leslie Brooks, Ron Bush, Richard Hendrie, Mark Wenzel, Sylvia Harmon ... and, of course, favorite Sarah Christie.
