Jean Mattox, the choreographer for NO, NO, NANETTE also played the role originated in the NY revival by Ruby Keeler. Jean was now a Hampton resident. This obviously dated musical was given a terrific production ... the old tunes and the magnificent singing and dancing by Tom Oftt and Hester Lewellen were definite highlights.

HAIR was certainly a departure for Hampton, there was some speculation as to how the audiences would react to this new and different musical. While it may have shocked some, it was well received and became very popular during its two-week run. The first act finale involved members of the cast (those who wished to do so) disrobing during the musical number, all done with very subdued lighting so as not to offend and all in good taste. The producers had only planned to have two cast members disrobe, so as to be true to the script of the show, but not overly so. As the performances went on, more and more of the cast were "getting into the spirit of the play" and disrobing for the finale, until the producers finally had to intervene!

The final production of this season was the very powerful play called THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON by Jason Miller. The piece won the Pulitzer Prize, a Tony Award, and the NY CritiCs Award. The Hampton cast did a terrific lob with this sometimes shocking play.

Apprentices this year included Dale Lally, Lisa Pouliot, and Bobby Ellis. Company members were Sarah Christie, Olga Morosoff, and Alan Fleisig.

Musicians included Norbett Goldberg, Jim Tomkins, John Van W. Newberry, Richard Waterman, Clifford Korman, Sherman Sall, Gary Hamway, Clifford Korman, and Ed Zacko.
