This season introduced popular New York actor Joel Thomas to Hampton audiences ... he shone as the lead in Noel Coward's PRIVATE LIVES. Popular cast members this year were Dennis Drew, Ailsa Dawson, John Vari (who died beautifully in WITNESS) and introduced a fine character actress named Madge West who was with the company for several seasons in some wonderfully diverse roles. Madge was a familiar face on many TV commercials.

Bob Jeffords remembers ... "The greatest mystery I knew of at Hampton Playhouse was the disappearance of Don Waggoner the 1957 prop man. In July he had an out of town friend come see the show on a Saturday night. The friend waited while he struck the set and about 2 A.M. they went out to get a bite to eat while the rest of us continued striking. We never saw Don Waggoner again and, as far as I know, no one has ever found out what happened to him."

The top ticket price for a Saturday evening performance this year was $2.40.
