On October 10, 2006 Mr. Muscara announced his retirement at a school board meeting.

Mr. Muscara became our principal in 2004 after we lost Principal Moran and Assistant Principal Mr. Doig. Mr. Muscara, at the time, had been retired as Winnacunnet High School's assistant principal, but was convinced to come out of retirement.

Mr. Muscara had been in education for seventeen years. He started his career after twenty-three years in the military service. He went to college at the age of forty-two where his history professor recommended he start a career in education.

Mr. Muscara started his career in 1989 as a student teacher at Winnacunnet High School, and then he became a permanent substitute.

Mr. Muscara eventually became the Dean of Students, and later assistant principal.

On July 4, 2004 Mr. Muscara agreed to be our principal. This was the day after he retired as Winnacunnet's assistant principal.

When asked what his favorite moment at Hampton Academy was, Mr. Muscara replied, "Whenever I see children smile, because when children smile, I smile, and when children are sad, I'm sad."

Mr. Muscara said that his proudest moment at Hampton Academy was when our school was officially declared a middle school because he thinks that being a middle school is what's best for us -- the kids--because the middle school philosophy is child centered, and he's proud to say that the teachers have exceeded this.

Mr. Muscara is retiring because he feels that it's time for him to retire. He's sixty-four years young and he feels it's time for him to enjoy life and spend more time with his family.

Mr. Muscara will be greatly missed by both faculty and students. It is pretty obvious that in his time here, he did an excellent job as principal.
