Criteria for inclusion of Miscellaneous Notices

The miscellaneous notices from the five 1899 issues of the Hamptons Unionincluded here are generally a single sentence or a short paragraph in length. Their subjects range from social events to business news to personal news of local citizens. Because of the great number of such notices in each paper we will not include all of them here. Personal notices such as "Mrs. Nellie M. Fletcher of Portsmouth is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Mary S. Garland, for a few days, at Hampton" will not be included. Many social events will also be left out. Primarily what we will include will be business news, notices of births, marriages or deaths, as well as any other news items of local historical interest. Occasionally we will include some of the more colorful or fanciful notices as well.
