Herbert S. Wyman passed away at his home on the Drakeside road, Wednesday night, August 22, 1928. Services will be held from the Methodist church at 2:30 P. M., Saturday. Friends invited.

Mrs. Doctor Ward was in town Monday, with her sister, Miss Mattie Chipman. Miss Adeline Marston returned to Boston with them on Tuesday A. M. for a visit.

Miss Greta Ryder is a guest this week of Mrs. W. Y. Keene.

Friends of Mrs. Addie B. Brown are glad to see her so much improved in health.

Mr. and Mrs. B. T. Colvin are guests of Mrs. Colvin's sister, Mrs. Alice Philbrook.

Arnold Godfrey was taken to the Portsmouth hospital on Saturday and operated on for a serious case of appendicitis.

The A. W. Gookin place near the Beach, recently purchased by James Smith of Andover, Mass., has been renamed "Winnicummett Inn" and is well filled with guests. Mr. Smith is in charge of this place while Mrs. Smith continues the management of the Durant House with a large booking until after Labor Day.

The burial of the late Mrs. George William Brown, widow of a former resident of the town, took place in the family lot on Sunday morning.

Mrs. Martha Blake is much improved in health and with her daughter is now staying at the Willows.

Beach Road Greenhouse was closed last week while its proprietor visited relatives in Eliot, Maine.

At the regular meeting of Winnicummet Rebekah Lodge held August 14 there was an unusually good attendance despite the fact of its being one of the hottest nights of the summer. The program consisted of readings by Mrs. Russell Merrill, Mrs. Martha Devlin, Mrs. Georgia Brown, Mrs. Susan Dauphen, Mrs. Martha Green. Ice cream and cake were served by the committee in charge. Miss Mary Avins, Mrs. Mabel Chase, Mrs. Alice Elkins, Mrs. May Akerman and Mrs. Russell Merrill, all of Hampton Falls, comprised this committee. The lodge has accepted an invitation to visit Starlight lodge of Newton on September 28. Further announcement will be made later.

Miss Marguerite Moaratty arrived home on Monday after spending two weeks' vacation at Carlisle, Pa. While at Carlisle Miss Moaratty had the pleasure of taking a trip to Gettysburg to visit the battlefield. She also visited in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The trip altogether took in seven states and was much enjoyed.

A social was held last Friday evening by the Baptist Christian Endeavor Society to which the young people of the town were invited. A good number accepted the invitation. Songs and games were enjoyed and later cake, cookies and ice cream were served by the committee in charge.

Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Colvin of Harrison, New York, are visiting Mrs. Colvin's sister, Mrs. George Philbrook, and other relatives in town.

Mrs. Edgar Warren has quite fully recovered from the severe burns which she received some time ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bragg and son spent the weekend at Lake Winnipesaukee, where they camped out at Lake Shore Park.

Mrs. Martha Blake and daughter, Augusta, are enjoying a vacation at The Willows. Their many friends are glad to welcome them back to town.

Mrs. A. W. Gookin and two daughters left on Thursday for Falmouth, Mass., where they will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Webster for a few days.

Mr. Edward Snell is spending two weeks with his sister, Mrs. Leo Moore of North Beach Highlands.

Stillman Hobbs spent the weekend in Lewiston, Maine, with friends.

Mrs. Anna Rice of North Beach Highlands is spending a few days out of town.

Mr. G. F. Savage is entertaining his son and family at his new home on High street.

Betty Scott, while visiting in Milford, Connecticut, has had an operation on her throat, having her tonsils and adenoids removed.

Philip Howe is planning a trip to the White Mountains on Sunday in his new Ford Sport Coupe. Those accompanying him will be his sister, Miss Beatrice Howe, Miss Mary Hadley, and Mr. Alex Brown.

Young Boy Dies Suddenly:

Hadden Badger Brown, son of Percy B. and Hazel R. Brown, died suddenly at his home at Hampton Beach Sunday, aged five years. Besides his father and mother, he is survived by two younger brothers, Stanwood and Carroll. His father, Percy B. Brown, is widely known both as owner of a local garage and for his many years' connection with the Hampton Beach fire department in which he was for a long time lieutenant. The child's mother was formerly Miss Hazel Myers of Hampton, whose father is well known for his service as captain of the coast guard crew at North Beach. Funeral services were held in the Community Church Tuesday afternoon.
