The American Library Association held a five-day Conference in Boston in June and on Saturday, June 21, I attended the luncheon for New Hampshire Librarians at the Westminster Hotel, and an afternoon session at the Copley-Plaza.

The District Meeting was held this year in Somersworth, the principal speaker being Mr. David Jolly, Librarian of the University of New Ilampshire.

During Book Week, Miss Pauline Whitney’s Grade [5] met at the Library for a talk on books, instruction in the use of the Card Catalog, and an opportunity to inspect a display of new books for juveniles. The Book Week Poster, “Forward With Books,’’ was on display.

In cooperation with the Monday Club about two hundred books were sent to Manchester for distribution to military camps in New Hampshire, and the Library is also cooperating in the National Victory Book Campaign for Service Men.

The following periodicals are in the Library: American Magazine, American Girl, American Legion and Auxiliary Magazines, Antiques, Atlantic Monthly, Baseball, Bird Lore, Child Life, Children’s Activities, Christian Century, Commentator, Consumer’s Union, Current History, Exeter News-Letter, Flower Grower, Ford News, Fortune, Good Housekeeping, Hampton Union, House and Garden, Hygeia, Jack and Jill, Ladies Home Journal, Mercury, Nation, National Geographic, News Week, Open Road for Boys, Parents Magazine, Parent-Teachers Magazine, Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, Readers Digest, Roscicrusian, Rural New Yorker, Saturday Evening Post, Scientific American, Specialty Salesman, Telephone Topics, Union Signal, Wall Street, Woman’s Home Companion and Yankee.
