National Library Week in April and Children’s Book Week were observed with displays of new books. New books are purchased every month.

In October an all-day District Meeting was held at Lamie’s Tavern in charge of Mrs. Rachel Sanborn, Library Consultant of the State Library Extension Service in Exeter. There was a large attendance and the group was welcomed by Mr. Stillman M. Hobbs, Treasurer of the Hampton Library Trustees. The principal speaker at the morning session was Mrs. Eleanor Smith, Coordinator of Adult Services at the Brooklyn, N. Y. Public Library. Other interesting speakers were from the University of New hampshire and the State Library. After luncheon discussions were held with the meeting closing at three o’clock.

The Art displays on the peg board and in the cases have been in charge of Mrs. George Hadley, Assistant Librarian. She is to be commended for the varied displays and we are grateful to those who have given of their time and talents to make these exhibits possible. Descriptions of these have appeared in Hampton Union, calling attention of the people at home and in other towns to them.

As in former years the Garden Club has supplied the Christmas wreath for the Library and also other decorations. The Library staff provided the prettily decorated tree and the candles.
