Program Dedication
This Official 50th "Miss Hampton Beach" Commemorative Program is dedicated to Bill Elliot, "The Singing Cop," who will crown our newest Queen tonight. During his lifetime as an entertainer, Bill appeared on coast-to-coast radio shows, on Major Bowes' Amateur Radio Program and with several of the Big Bands appearing at the Casino Ballroom. His vocals were often heard on the "Band Stand", winning his first Hampton Beach Amateur Night at 16 years in 1921 and then with regular appearances with Hal McDonnell's Band in 1927 continuing until the 1950's. At the time of his regular performances, he was a full-time Hampton Police Officer and would leave his duty of directing traffic in front of the Casino to appear at the Bandstand in full uniform. "The Singing Cop" was born.
Welcome to the 50th Anniversary
"Miss Hampton Beach" Pageant
On behalf of the Hampton Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, I would like to welcome you to the 1995 Miss Hampton Beach Pageant. The Pageant's fifty year history attests to the fact that the Pageant is a positive experience for participants and viewers alike.
What makes our pageant more exciting and meaningful is that it is linked to the Miss USA State Pageants. Thus, the Chamber is happy to provide an even greater opportunity to our contestants in the form of potential competitions leading to career opportunities and scholarship dollars for higher eduction.
Join me tonight in welcoming these young women as they compete for the title of the 50th Miss Hampton Beach.
Cheer them on and above all, enjoy yourself.
